INTRODUCTION

The Institut MERMOZ provides 2 CRM instructor training modules.

1 / INITIAL TRAINING – CRM INSTRUCTORS

The “CRM Instructor for Pilots and Cabin Crew” training program was designed for candidates intending to manage:

  • CRM training for pilots and cabin crew in a neutral environment (training room, or computer-based training)
  • Mixed training sessions for pilots, cabin crew members and technicians as part of a recurrent training program.

This programs aims at bringing candidates to the level of knowledge and expertise required by the EASA/AIR OPS regulation:

  • AMC3 ORO.FC.115 and  GM3 ORO.FC.115 for pilots CRM instructors
  • AMC3 ORO.CC.115(e) and GM2 ORO.CC.115(e) for cabin crew CRM instructors

INTRODUCTION - PART 2

2/CRM REFRESHER COURSES TRAINING

According to EASA / AIR OPS (AMC3 ORO.FC.115 and GM3 ORO.FC.115 for pilots CRM instructors, and AMC3 ORO.CC.115(e) and GM2 ORO.CC.115(e) for cabin crew CRM instructors), CRM instructors have to carry out a refresher course every 3 years.

INITIAL TRAINING - CRM Instructors

Part 1

  • CRM: history and development
  • Operators Management System and CRM training
  • Introduction to the differences between the various CRM trainings (Initial training, refresher courses etc.)
  • CRM specificities in the aeronautical field

Part 2

The second part focuses on the regulatory aspects, and on new CRM concepts, which are:

  • Human performance / CRM general principles / Performance and limits (Pilots)
  • Threat and Error Management (Pilots and Cabin Crew)
  • Behaviour / Attitudes / Personality / Self assessment / Self-affirmation (Pilots and Cabin Crew)
  • Monitoring and action (Pilots)
  • Development of resilience (Pilots and Cabin Crew)
  • Surprise effect (Pilots and Cabin Crew)
  • Cultural differences (Pilots and Cabin Crew)
  • Communication and coordination out of the airplane (Pilots and Cabin Crew)

This part is enriched with exemples and real case scenarios to get to know how CRM fits into the aeronautical field.

Part 3

The third part aims at enriching the theoretical and practical knowledge using hands-on exercises.

  • Skills for group facilitation
  • Skills for cluster management, group dynamic and personal consciousness

Part 4

The fourth part is made for students to practice on the different concepts and to ensure candidates reached the required level of knowledge and competence to be able to carry out CRM training programs.

CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION

CRM INSTRUCTORS – INITIAL TRAINING

The latest regulation imposes that, in addition to the specific training, CRM instructors reach sufficient knowledge on:

  • Aircraft operations, and on the operator they are working for.
  • Human Performance on the basis of the ATPL requirements for pilots CRM instructors, and of the CCA requirements for cabin crew CRM instructors.

They are also required to carry out a Pilot or Cabin Crew CRM Initial training program.

REFRESHER COURSE – CRM INSTRUCTOR

The CRM Instructor rating renewal requires candidates:

  • Deliver at least 2 training sessions over 12 months within the 3 years period of validity.
  • Are evaluated by their operate within the last 12 months of the 3 years period of validity
  • Carry out a “CRM instructor” refresher course within the 3 years period of validity
TERMS

It is mandatory that candidates carry out a full and satisfactory training program. Hands-on exercises will be organised during the program.

OBJECTIVES

The objective is to reach the CRM instructor rating for aircraft operators.
